As I marched into the bush to clear wind-fallen trees, I had this album looping giving me gnarly riffs for miles. Super creative, sci-fi adventure fun, and Rise of the Cephalopods just mops the floors with old prog bands' too long songs.

I was surprised by how much I liked this album. Yes these guys are masters (this lineup and the last) but sometimes a big tech death album gets a bit samey, and Obscura is not exactly a fresh new band. But this album is long and interesting, lots of awesome licks and shredding. The whole feels coherent but there's more than enough variation to keep me interested. Great aggressive biking music.
